When selling your home, first impressions are the closest things to location, location and location. Once you have decided to sell your home, there are several things that our Century 21 Calabrese agents can assist you with to get the best price in the shortest amount of time.

Prepare Your Home

Make your home inviting and clutter-free. Make basic repairs and try to look at your home “through the eyes of the buyer” as though you have never seen it before. Make sure that all closets are uncluttered and a high percentage of personal items (photos, etc.) should be put away.

Outside

The entranceway, the front yard, lawn and driveway are the first thing that a prospective buyer sees. Make sure that it is clean, neat and presentable. Weed the planting areas and keep the grass neatly mowed; prune bushes and trees; clear patios or decks; sweep the sidewalk and make sure that the windows and door panes are clean.

Interior

Make sure that the entry foyer is clear of debris and unsightly items; vacuum carpeting; dust shelves or entry table; tidy up cloak closet. Make sure that as many lights are on as possible. A dark room is very uninviting.

    • Living Room, Family Room

Stow newspapers, magazines, books, games, toys, and videos; sweep fireplace; wipe down ceiling fan blades; dust furniture and make sure that drapes are open (light makes the room feel bigger and brighter).

    • Kitchen

Make sure that the floor is clean and free of debris; clean appliances; wipe countertops, cabinets, sink; stow kitchen sponges and dish towels; eliminate any cooking odors.

    • Bathrooms

Dry shower stalls and bathtubs; display fresh towels; empty wastebaskets; clean sinks, mirrors and faucets and stow dirty laundry.

    • Bedrooms

Make all beds; stow shoes, laundry, clothing, books or toys; open curtains or shades.

    • Home office

Straighten out desk and bookshelves; stow files; empty wastepaper basket; dust surfaces, including computer screen.

    • Basement

Clear any clutter and make sure that laundry room is clean and also uncluttered.
